how to prep FOR YOUR SENIOR SESSION
Spring break is right around the corner, and your junior year is quickly dwindling away (even if it doesn't seem like it at times). Before you know it, summer will be knocking at your door, and you'll officially be a senior. Sounds surreal, right? Now is the perfect time to get on your photographer's books for one of life's big milestones - senior photos.
why SENIOR PHOTOS?
You've spent the last several years working towards that coveted diploma. Your parents, friends, teachers, coaches, mentors, etc. have all put time and effort into your success. Celebrate this pivotal time in your life with your village by documenting this season with a photo session.
Years down the road when you're pulling out the old albums with your kids, you'll be able to look back on those pictures and reflect on the late nights, homecoming games, comradery, and more.
And what's more - you'll be able to reflect on how far you've come since those teenage years.
How you've matured.
How you've blossomed.
How you've accomplished things your younger self could have only dreamed of.
These photos don't just represent your senior year. They represent your growth as a human being.
I've compiled a list of 9 tips and tricks to make the most out of your senior session.
01.
Don't forget extra clothes and some slip on shoes if we are doing creek shots in the warmer months. Having a towel on hand to dry off is also a good idea. Trust me, you don't want to be sopping wet on your ride home!
02.
Decide which extra curricular activities interest you, ad we can incorporate those into the photos to tell your story (i.e., FFA jacket, 4-H livestock, jerseys, sports equipment, instruments, etc.).
03.
If you're considering incorporating pets/livestock, make sure they are trained/broke to lead. It's always a good idea to have someone on hand to take the animal over when we are finished with it.
04.
Take a moment to explore locations that interest you. From an urban, trendy setting such as downtown to a classic, timeless country location, I'm down for whatever you are!
05.
Don’t hesitate to dress up! Plan to dress up a little more than your every day wear. Consider higher quality fabrics – they will translate better on camera…avoid t-shirt or athletic dry fit material.
06.
Try your clothes on in advance. Make sure they fit – and cover you in all the right places at all times. You may be standing, sitting, or walking. Make sure your outfit allows for those activities.
07.
Next, pick muted or neutral colors. Earthy tones can contribute to that dreamy, creamy feel that can make photos look so magical. Very bright colors can be distracting and don't always edit well. Neutral tones always complement everyone!
08.
Be careful with patterns. It’s perfectly okay to add outfits with patterns on it, but just be conscious of the types of patterns you are choosing. Patterns with very small dots tend to run together in photographs.
09.
Stay away from obvious branding logos on your clothing. They will subtract from the image. Yes, they are super cute, but they don’t always photograph well.
