This may sound controversial, but hear me out:


Photography isn't essential. Sounds odd coming from a photographer, right?


When we think of essential spending, we think of expenses such as groceries, bills, etc. We need groceries. We need houses. We need insurance. We have to spend money on these items to live. However, photography doesn't fit into those categories. It's like fitting a square peg into a round hole. It's not essential because it isn't supposed to be. If it was, it would lose its value.

But, we also never remember those everyday purchases either. Fridges get filled, and another grocery pick up order gets made. So, what purchases leave a lasting impression on us?
